History

Our community center was originally the home of the Village Park Garage. In 1993, the local American Legion Post 193 received permission from Village Council and the Park Board to renovate the existing Village Park garage. 80% of the building mterials were recycled and obtained by dismantling a 40x100 ft building at Aurora Farms. The Lodge was rebuilt with over 1000 volunteer hours from the Legion and community. An arrangement was made with the Village Council to erect the Lodge in exchange for the building to house both the Post home and the community-use space. The North half of the building is now the home of American Legion Post 193, and the South half is used as out Community Center. In 2025, the building was dubbed the Marty and Diane Hura Lodge, in honor of the many years of the Huras' service to the Village of Mantua.
