OLD BUSINESS:
- Siren Tower- received quote to restore tower copy passed out to committee. Members decided to wait on it for now, looking at the possibility of getting donations to help.
- Overtime last year at this time was 607 hours – this year to date 277 hours.
- Copy of appropriation status to date – will be rearranging funds that are stronger to other areas. Will meet with Jenny
- Cruiser warranty payment not due until Jan. 2009 – Warranty has already been used on cars for complete exhaust system and battery
- Ghost Walk was a big success- the plan is to alternate every other year with the Christmas Walk – No law enforcement issues everything went well
- We were notified that MPD was awarded the grant for the Night Vision – Thermal Imaging goggles. If we get the ones we applied for it is a savings of $15,000.00
NEW BUSINESS:
- We received a letter from Ohio Edison thanking everyone for the assistance and hard work from the storm on September 14, 2008.
- Friday, October 31, 2008, Chief Buchert, Mayor Hawkins and Ed Trego will be holding a meeting at 10:00am with the Main Street businesses to discuss SNOW. Letters were sent out last week. Trying to get everyone on the same page of what we will accept and will not accept. We will do our best to try to accommodate all. O.R.C. is specific on not pushing snow into the roadway. Ed would like to see O.R.C. strictly enforced. Mayor and Chief feel it is OK to push snow into the parking area only. Business owners have to realize that anything pushed into the parking area after 6AM could remain there for 24 hours and customers will have to walk thru the snow. Village Solicitor has been contacted and feels that some businesses are restricted in areas to put snow and it is inconvenient and could be an issue if a case were to go to court. Marty advised he will be attending the meeting tomorrow also, Mayor Hawkins had asked him to be there.
- Mandated Firearms Range training was yesterday and today for all officers. About one half were there yesterday, the rest will shoot today. No issues.
- Chief visited the Eaton Corp. this week and was advised as of November 1, 2008 they will be down to 3 employees.
- Committee concerned with the increasing of Criminal Mischief and Vandalism. Chief advised we are aware, it seems to be happening after school. They gather in the park area, trail, Circle K and McDonalds. One group will distract the officers attention while another group fights, etc.
- Chief advised Committee that he has received an application for part-time Officer. Chief and Committee discussed the hiring at this time. Committee recommended to hold off until after the first of the year.
- Due to holidays the November and December meeting will be combined and held on December 18, 2008 at 6:30 am. Correspondence done to Clerk to advise of change
